How do I introduce my kitten to my existing animals?
Dogs – We introduce the kittens to our dogs from the age of about 4 weeks so they are familiar with them. Once your kitten has settled in, introduce them slowly, allow your kitten to see your dog from a distance (through a baby gate or from the top of a cat tower) When your kitten feels comfortable with your dog she will come down on her own and mingle with your dog. Don’t leave your kitten alone with a dog until you are 100% sure that the dog is ok with him. Puppies and even older dogs will try play with the kitten and often get too rough and can end up hurting your fragile kitten.
Always make sure your kitten has a place to escape to.
Cats – Don’t open the carrier until you cat has had a chance to smell the kitten through the carrier, If your cat reacts aggressively to the kitten you may need to keep them in a playpen to give your cat a chance to get used to a kitten. You can also place your cat on the top of a cat tower and let your new kitten out of their carrier allowing your cat to watch the kitten from a distance.
They can take anywhere between 10 minutes and 30 days to be ok with each other. Males tend to accept kittens a lot easier than females
FAQ – After bringing your kitten home
My kitten is pooping/ peeing outside the litter box, what do I do?
Sometimes the kittens will do this as a result of stress, it usually lasts about 5 days. Place a temporary litter box over the space your kitten is pooping, once they start pooping in the box you can move the box around. You can also fill the litter box with dirt from outside to encourage them.
My kitten is hiding, what do I do?
Leave the kitten and let them come out on their own,” ignore “them until they approach you.

My kitten has diarrhea, what do I do?
IF YOUR KITTEN HAS DIARRHEA WITH THE CONSISTENCY OF WATER FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS PLEASE GET THEM TO A VET FAST
First make sure your kitten has not eaten anything that could have upset their tummies (plants, dog food, human food) The stress from the transition can also cause diarrhea for a few days. You can add a probiotic to their food to help stiffen their poop. Make sure they drink plenty of water. It has happened in the past that the kittens have developed a sensitive tummy to the Royal Canin kitten dry and the Mother and Kitten wet at around 14 weeks of age. The diarrhea will be consistent ( not water but jello consistency) and last for more than a week, Feed the kitten chicken and rice for a few days, if the diarrhea clears up you know it was the food. Keep them on chicken and rice for around 2 weeks then start introducing a different food of your choice
